The adoption fee is only to cover my costs of Mathilda's shots and crate. The only reason I am looking into re-homing her is because she needs more room to run, work to do, children to herd...You get the idea! She does get destructive when left alone for more than a few hours. I would put her in her crate, but she figured out early on how to tear it up and get the door to fall off! Her aggression toward other dogs will subside after getting to know the other dog(s) for a while during supervised visits. Her breed does not tend to get along well with cats, and she still chases mine but causes them no harm. Two of them won't run, so ... (Read More)Mathilda stands there as if to say, 'Now what?' I had no intention of getting a doggie who needs so much more than I can give her. I had just gotten out of the hospital and was looking for a bus stop when I found her lying on the sidewalk --- It was in July and 108 degrees! She was skinny, hungry, thirsty and dirty. I gained her trust, shared my water with her, carried her across the street to a shady spot and asked my friend to come pick us up when she got off work. I had every intention of calling animal control the next day as I was still very sick and weak. I just couldn't do it. That's why she's been stuck in a one-bedroom apartment with me. I was so afraid she wouldn't find a home, and at least with me she would have something; and she would NOT get euthanized!! Mathilda's one now (I figured her D.O.B. as 11/05/14) and I DO love her very much, but I am willing to admit that I don't have the energy to keep up with her, nor space to let her run freely. I don't have a car to take her to a park. She deserves so much better! **She is NOT in any danger of being taken to a shelter or just given away to some random person! Whomever takes an interest in adopting her should be able to show they have: #1 - MORE SPACE!! #2 - Previous experience with training basics. (She is house-trained.) #3 - Some knowledge of the Australian Kelpie breed, and/or Herding/Working breeds in general. #4 - Intention to spay her if I have not been able to afford it yet. AND MOST IMPORTANTLY: Plenty of love, patience, exercise, and attention!! Mathilda IS a very loving, protective and loyal girl who will give you back 200%. (Less)
